About the Opponent: Bay FC

Bay FC is the San Jose-based NWSL expansion club that entered the league in 2024. They play their home matches at PayPal Park and have quickly built a competitive roster. Wave vs. Bay FC is shaping up as a California rivalry worth watching — close geography, similar ambitions.

Pre-Match: Kids Zone & Gate Programming

Gates open at 2:30 p.m. — arrive early. There’s a full slate of programming running before kickoff and the stadium will be busy.

Kicking things off is Disco Danger, a nine-year-old DJ from Cardiff (yes, really) known for high-energy sets along the San Diego coastline. She’ll be spinning as fans arrive.

On the North Turf Pad, the Kids Zone (presented by Invisalign) includes:

  • Face painting
  • Wave FC-themed temporary tattoos
  • Poster-making station
  • A live magician
  • Additional interactive activities

The Wave’s starting lineup will be revealed through artwork created by local YMCA youth participants — so the kids are literally writing the lineup card.

During the Match

Kids Night elements are woven into the full 90 minutes. A kids in-stadium host will run the show, with youth-themed recognitions for Season Ticket Members, Military, and Health Champions throughout the match.

The pre-match ceremony includes a youth parade on the pitch, with select groups getting an on-field experience before kickoff. The national anthem will be performed by the Suzuki School — a 20-piece violin, viola, and cello ensemble of students ages four and up from across San Diego County. That’s what she said… about the sound check being unforgettable.

At halftime, stay in your seat: the Solida Bike Club San Diego will be part of a parade, with riders wearing Wave FC kids’ merchandise in what the team is billing as a one-of-a-kind fashion show.

Food & Drink: Kids Night Specials

In addition to the usual stadium food and drink options, Kids Night brings dedicated concessions and sweet treats worth knowing about:

  • $7 refillable souvenir cups — available throughout the stadium
  • Chubby Cones — dessert truck
  • Mochichis — dessert truck
  • Handel’s Ice Cream — dessert truck

A Sunday 4:00 p.m. kickoff in early May means daytime sun. Bring hats, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle — kids can get worn down fast in the heat. The sun and shade guide can help you pick the right seats.
