Utah State is one of five former Mountain West programs joining the rebuilt Pac-12 in 2026, alongside SDSU, Fresno State, Boise State and Colorado State. The Aggies enter under second-year head coach Bronco Mendenhall — a Mountain West veteran whose head coaching résumé includes 11 seasons at BYU and six at Virginia, with stops at New Mexico immediately before Logan. Mendenhall led USU to a 6-7 record and a bowl appearance in his debut season. The two programs did not meet in 2025, making this the first SDSU-Utah State football game in two years.
