About Snapdragon Stadium

Snapdragon Stadium opened in 2022 as the home of SDSU Aztecs football. The 35,000-seat venue is also home to San Diego FC (MLS) and the San Diego Wave FC (NWSL), and hosts major concerts and events throughout the year.

The Stadium’s History

When the San Diego Chargers relocated to Los Angeles, California State Senator Marty Block proposed a plan for San Diego State University to take over the old stadium site in Mission Valley. SDSU would expand its campus and build a new multi-use stadium for Aztecs football and eventually a Major League Soccer team.

In December 2019, SDSU received a $15 million gift toward financing the new stadium, which would be named Bashor Field at Snapdragon Stadium. Construction began in April 2020, with completion in time for the 2022 season.

Other SDSU Sports at Snapdragon

In addition to football, Aztecs Soccer teams play their home matches at the adjacent SDSU Sports Deck. Looking for SDSU Lacrosse information?
