Plant-Based at the Pitch: Your Guide to Vegan & Vegetarian Eats

Finding a satisfying plant-based meal at a stadium doesn’t have to mean settling for plain pretzels. Whether you’re in for an SDSU Aztecs football game or a San Diego FC match, Snapdragon Stadium has several local San Diego food partners serving dedicated vegan and vegetarian options. Menus mark them with V (Vegan), VG (Vegetarian) and ND (Non-Dairy). If it isn’t marked, don’t assume it’s vegan. A pretzel or a side of fries isn’t labeled for a reason. Here’s what to order.

Vegan Options

The Taco Stand (Sections 111 & 141): Two Mushroom Tacos with chips and freshly made salsa ($12), vegan and non-dairy. One of the best things you can eat in this stadium, plant-based or otherwise.

Hodad’s (Sections 102, 122, 333): The iconic Ocean Beach burger joint offers a Vegan Burger with their famous wedge-cut fries ($13), vegan and non-dairy. The classic “burger and fries at the game” experience, no compromise.

Ultra Classics (Sections 104, 114, 137, 327): Look for the Tamal Azteca ($10), vegan and gluten-friendly. It’s part of the stadium’s Menú Azteca, a culinary program honoring indigenous Mexica food traditions developed in collaboration with SDSU’s Aztec Identity Initiative. Menú Azteca items carry their own icons on the menu boards: a corn icon for Aztec Authentic dishes and a nopal icon for Aztec-Inspired ones. Empanada Kitchen (Section 140): The Ratatouille Empanadas are vegan.

Everbowl (Section 114): The Aztec Power bowl ($12) is a refreshing, nutrient-dense vegan and gluten-friendly choice.

Socal Street Dogs & Esquites (Sections 101, 123): The agua frescas (horchata, cucumber lime and Jamaica) are vegan, though it varies by flavor, so confirm at the stand.

Chunky Guacamole (GF, V): Hass avocado, Roma tomatoes, red onion, jalapeños, cilantro and lime juice with tortilla chips. New for 2026 and easy to share.

Baja Street Fruit Cups (GF, V): Mango, watermelon, jicama and cucumber with Tajín, chamoy and fresh lime. One of the best values in the building.

Cali BBQ (Section 109): A side of French fries is marked vegan. Yes, you can eat at the BBQ stand.

Vegetarian Options

Ultra Classics (Sections 104, 114, 137, 327): The Veggie Dog ($8) covers your traditional stadium cravings, with a gluten-free bun on request. For dessert, the new S’mores Nachos (VG) pile marshmallow spread, chocolate sauce, mini marshmallows, chocolate chips and graham cracker on cinnamon-sugar tortilla chips.

Socal Street Dogs & Esquites (Sections 101, 123): The Esquite Cup (GF, VG) is Mexican street corn in a cup with mayo, cotija, clarified butter, Tajín and Flaming Hot Cheetos. New in 2026 and a fan favorite.

Buona Forchetta (Sections 103, 122, 329): The 12” Augusta is a wood-fired vegetarian pizza with San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella, artichokes, roasted garlic, sundried tomatoes, arugula and balsamic glaze. One of the better vegetarian options in the stadium at any price point.

Empanada Kitchen (Section 140): Mushroom & Goat Cheese Empanadas.

Batch & Box: The cookies are marked vegetarian. Not vegan.

Cali BBQ (Section 109): The potato salad side is marked vegetarian.

Also marked vegetarian: the Baja Chop and the Cinnamon Sugar Churro.

Heads up on The Crack Shack’s Schmaltz Fries (Section 141): The stadium labels them vegetarian, but schmaltz is rendered chicken fat, and Crack Shack’s restaurants fry them in it. Ask at the stand before you order.
