Manchester United has played at Snapdragon Stadium twice, both times as part of a summer preseason tour of the United States. Snapdragon also has a bigger tie to the club: it became United’s principal partner and shirt sponsor starting with the 2024-25 season, so the stadium’s name is on the front of every Red Devils jersey.
No Manchester United match is currently scheduled at Snapdragon Stadium. United’s 2026 preseason was played entirely in Europe because the World Cup was being held in North America, and the club has not announced its 2027 summer plans.
On July 31, 2024, United came from behind to beat LaLiga side Real Betis 3-2 in the Snapdragon Cup. Iker Losada put Betis ahead before Marcus Rashford equalized from the penalty spot. Amad Diallo scored from a tight angle, and Casemiro tapped in from a corner to make it 3-1. Diego Llorente headed in a late goal for Betis, but United held on to lift the trophy.
United’s first visit to Snapdragon, on July 25, 2023, went to the underdogs. Wrexham, the Welsh club made famous by owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, beat a young Manchester United side 3-1 in front of a big San Diego crowd.
With Snapdragon as the club’s shirt sponsor, a return to San Diego on a future US tour is a natural fit, but nothing has been announced. In 2025, United played the Premier League Summer Series in New Jersey, Chicago and Atlanta.
