The new SDSU Mission Valley River Park at Snapdragon Stadium is finally open, delivering more urban hiking, family fun, and a dose of nature in the heart of the city.
Hiking & Biking
The real gem here is a 2-mile paved loop circling the site, part of the San Diego River Trail. Keep an eye out for mileage markers every quarter mile and signs sharing stories about Kumeyaay heritage, local birdlife, and the history of agriculture.
For a little off-road excitement, short dirt trails wind past flowers and gardens. The paths are easy-going with no steep inclines.
Playgrounds
Designed for children ages 2 years old and up, the playground features a rope climbing tree, play structures with slides and monkey bars.
Sports
Multi-use grass fields ideal for soccer, rugby, lounging in the sun, picnicking, or a game of casual sports like Frisbee or touch football. Hardtop courts with four basketball hoops (including two half-courts and a full court), pickleball, and fitness equipment.
